چکیده

Abstract Synchronizing crop residue decomposing and releasing nitrogen with subsequent cash needs provides benefits for ecosystems, but it is difficult to carry out. This study aimed investigate the trend of decomposition vetch ( Vicia sativa ), rye Secale cereal e) mixed (rye + vetch) cover residues as well release after incorporating them into soil during 12 weeks potato growth season by using mesh bag method. Vetch decomposed very quickly in spring their released due higher content consequently a lower Carbon/Nitrogen (C/N) ratio. However, at slower rate compared treatment, was immobilized mainly C/N A better understanding crops dynamics leads maximizing effects nutrient uptake main crops. The results this showed that input level fertiliser can be reduced implementing management strategies farming potatoes crops, which will reduce harmful environmental increase economic benefit farmers.

Legume Shrubs Are More Nitrogen-Homeostatic than Non-legume Shrubs

Legumes are characterized as keeping stable nutrient supply under nutrient-limited conditions. However, few studies examined the legumes' stoichiometric advantages over other plants across various taxa in natural ecosystems. We explored differences in nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) stoichiometry of different tissue types (leaf, stem, and root) between N2-fixing legume shrubs and non-N2-fixing ...

Differential Soil Acidity Tolerance of Tropical Legume Cover Crops

In tropical regions, soil acidity and low soil fertility are the most important yield-limiting factors for sustainable crop production. Using legume cover crops as mulch is an important strategy not only to protect the soil loss from erosion but also to ameliorate soil fertility. Information is limited regarding tolerances of tropical legume cover crops to acid soils. A greenhouse experiment wa...

Nitrogen fixation and carbon metabolism in legume nodules.

A large amount of energy is utilized by legume nodules for the fixation of nitrogen and assimilation of fixed nitrogen (ammonia) into organic compounds. The source of energy is provided in the form of photosynthates by the host plant. Phosphoenol pyruvate carboxylase (PEPC) enzyme, which is responsible for carbon dioxide fixation in C4 and crassulacean acid metabolism plants, has also been foun...

Light Intensity Effects on Growth and Micronutrient Uptake by Tropical Legume Cover Crops

Cover crops are important components of a sustainable crop-production system in plantation crops such as cacao (theobroma cacao), coffee (Coffee arabica), oil palm (Elaeis Spp.), and banana (Musa Spp.). Optimal growth of cover crops in plantation agriculture is determined by adaptability of crop species, light intensity reaching their leaf canopies, and their nutrient-use efficiencies, includin...
